Client for Affordable Housebuilding

Employer
Colchester Borough Council
Location
Colchester, Essex
Salary
CMG 7 £37,995 - £43,534
Closing date
28 Aug 2022

Colchester Borough Council is delivering on our ambitious plans to create 350 new, Council-owned, affordable homes y 2024; but we still want to do more! We want to expand the existing housebuilding programme further in terms of both numbers and longevity, and to do so we want to explore additional new and innovative ideas.

Colchester isn’t a Council that follows others, we are a role model and a leader… and we seek a likeminded individual to join us. Are you an experienced housing-related or projects-based professional with experience and skills that can assist in the development of new Council houses? Do you understand the challenges in driving forwards new development projects? We need someone who can act as an “intelligent client”, alongside a wider team, to co-ordinate and continue to deliver new housing.

You must be passionate about making a difference to the lives of real people and be keen to work for an ambitious organisation, in a highly motivated client team.

As “the client” for new-build housing projects you will need an ability to work collaboratively with a diverse range of people, from your colleagues in planning, finance and legal services through to Councillors, residents and contractors on sites.  To instruct and inform them effectively, you will need good communication skills and an understanding of capital projects.

Your agile, creative, solution-focussed mindset will complement your organised and methodical approach to KPI performance monitoring. You will also have ideas to increase and accelerate housing delivery, and it would be desirable to understand modern methods of construction and the ever-evolving carbon reduction opportunities.

In return, there is an opportunity for the right person to achieve great outcomes, introduce new ideas, and gain excellent career development opportunities.
