Job type - 1 x Full time, Permanent & 1 x Part time Permanent

Salary - £29,251.2

Hours - 35 per week + 5 hours paid lunch for full time post & 20 hours per week for part time post

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for an inspirational full time and part time, Veterans Engagement Officer who will be working intensively with a small number of individuals in London to support and guide ex-armed forces personnel to increase their engagement with support services within their community. These Service Users will have been in contact with the Criminal Justice System and may have low to complex needs characterised by one or more of the following: entrenched in their alcohol/substance use, have mental or physical health problems and are at risk of being homeless or sofa surfing.

Duties & Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

·        Engage with partner agencies to promote the service, generate appropriate referrals, attend, and participate in relevant meetings and give reports or presentations when required.

·        Work in a preventative way with those at risk of becoming disengaged with services. This includes maintaining a professional relationship and being a good role model

·        Steadily but persistently engage with Service Users to draw them into and maintain them in support services to identify and remove barriers to change.

·        Advocate on behalf of Service Users with specialist agencies as applicable. This should be part of ongoing assessment of the Service Users’ needs.

·        Risk assess and take the necessary actions in respect of any activities/ engagement with Service Users including personal safety.

·        Organise & facilitate multi-agency meetings to build additional support packages around the Service User with appropriate partners.

The ideal candidate will have Knowledge of working within the Criminal Justice System. Along with a clear understanding, with reference to the needs, priorities, and entitlements of Service users, of at least one of the following: Welfare benefits system; Homelessness legislation; Local or Regional Labour Markets; Careers Guidance; Debt Management.

Full, clean driving licence with access to own vehicle will be required.
