Salary circa £22,000 pa, plus great benefits

Empowering our customers to live rewarding and happy lives. That’s when it hits home.

Are you keen to develop your career in Housing where your people skills really make a difference? Are you someone who enjoys a job working with customers and being part of our diverse community?

We have a fabulous job opportunity a Community Housing Assistant to join our small but perfectly formed team.

Your job in a nutshell, will be to make our customers happy! You’ll get involved in helping customers to manage and maintain their tenancies. You’ll signpost our customers to external support agencies if they find themselves in financial difficulties. You’ll also get involved in mediating neighbour issues and use your community building skills to build local relationships amongst our tenants.

As our Community Housing Assistant, you’ll collect rent, chase arrears, fill void properties, manage estates and deal with the anti-social behaviour in our community. However it’s so much more than that! It’s about working closely with your colleagues to make sure that where our customers need support, we help them to live their best lives!

Where and when you’ll do your job
Your job will see you working across in Oxfordshire and will have responsibility for our properties, estates, communities and buildings in Oxford, Didcot, Thame and Witney.

The great news is that you will have the flexibility of managing your own diary. We anticipate that you’ll spend a few days a week out in the community, and a couple of days a week working from home (this will include working the occasional evening).

We tend to work Monday to Friday from 9-5, but are also flexible about agreeing a working pattern that might suit you better.

As this is a mobile working and community-based job, you need to be able to drive, as well as having access to a vehicle insured for business purposes. Don’t worry, we’ll pay you expenses to cover this use!

About our team
There are 2 of us in the local team, and 10 of us within the wider geographical team. We don’t just love to support our customers, we’re there for each other too!

You’ll work for Hannah our Housing Manager, who has over 14 years of experience working in the Housing Sector. Hannah enjoys her colourful nails and we know they reflect her bright personality! She also loves music, nature, festivals, and jogging (when she has time and childcare!).

About you
You’ll use your creative spark and keen eye for detail to ensure our properties and environments are safe secure and well managed, supporting our communities to thrive.

As our Community Housing Assistant, you’re naturally empathetic. You’re able to build rapport quickly and have a sound understanding of maintaining confidentiality and professional boundaries. It would be brilliant if you have an understanding of housing management, housing law and universal credit too!

Here at Home Group we have invested heavily in our future and use current and up to date equipment. You’ll be issued with the latest kit, which could include a Surface Pro and mobile. So, it's really important to us that you are technologically savvy (or at the very least not a technophobe!)

If you’ve worked in this type of environment before that would be amazing. It’s your “can do” positive attitude, passion for customer service and enthusiasm that are really critical to make this role a success. We can nurture your talent, just let us know in your cover letter why you have a passion for working here!

Be yourself at Home
Home Group is committed to tackling prejudice and discrimination, not just for our customers, but for our colleagues too! We’re super proud of our internal Diversity Networks and allies (Multicultural, LGBTQIA+ and Disability) which support colleagues from different backgrounds to be their true selves. We recognise and celebrate our differences, together we make Home Group a great place to work!

When you start your new job as our Community Housing Assistant, you’ll need to have a valid Enhanced Check under the Disclosure and Barring Service. The great news is that we will pay for that to be done if you don’t have a transferrable one.
