Fire Safety Surveyor

Goodman Masson are delighted to be supporting an ambitious and forward thinking Social Housing Provider who are looking to looking for a technical Fire Safety Surveyor to join their growing team. 

The Fire Safety Surveyor will provide technical fire advice to the Development team. Inspecting new developments to confirm adequate fire stopping, compartmentation, fire breaks, fire collars and (fire) doors are installed providing detailed reports to contractors/ developers and the project team.  

Key Responsibilities:

• Produce concise reports for required properties ensuring identified actions are completed through follow up post inspections
• Ensure that high risks are escalated immediately with the site team and communicated to the project team.
• Provide pathology of the building from concept to completion; required to provide support, advice and technical input on other projects or queries as they arise. 
• To be accessible and a go to person for technical fire information on new build projects.
• Providing direct guidance and support to the Development Team on fire safety matters relating to new developments and major works programmes across the Association, working specifically for the Development Department.
• Assist in ensuring properties are safe by design and in construction in relation to fire safety matters allowing safe use and occupation
• Understand PAS Documents and discuss differences between FRA Type 1,2,3 & 4

Knowledge/ Qualifications:

• Recognised fire safety qualification to degree level or equivalent and preferably three years experience in similar role. 
• Fire stopping, passive fire protection qualification or FIRAS accreditation
• Ideally RICS qualified
• Sound understanding of different construction methods and applications of fire safety active and passive works
• Sound knowledge of Building Regulations and Approved Document B as well as the range of British Standards relating to fire safety construction
• Sound knowledge of construction and construction process of new developments, refurbishments and minor works
