About the role
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Handyperson to join our Facilities team at Rooftop Housing Group.
You will carry out health & safety checks, working in accordance with health & safety guidelines to the communal areas within our properties and liaise with external contractors to ensure that all cyclical and responsive repairs and maintenance is undertaken to the electrical and fire safety equipment when required.
You’ll undertake regular tests on the fire safety equipment such as emergency lighting, smoke detectors and fire alarms, and keep up to date, accurate and compliant records of testing, or report any fault identified. You’ll perform a range of repairs and maintenance tasks, supporting with the upkeep of our estates, while responding promptly and courteously to maintenance requests from our customers and colleagues. Carrying out minor maintenance tasks, you’ll also provide cover for holidays and sickness to support the wider Facilities team.
We’re looking for someone who has had some experience of a similar role (e.g., a trade background), who has a good understanding of Health & Safety requirements, and good general knowledge across various maintenance areas. You’ll need to have good IT skills including use of a mobile device to allow you to record inspections and the ability to carry out minor maintenance tasks. We’d also like you to have excellent customer service skills, good communication skills and the ability to work on own initiative, organising and prioritising own workload. A full valid UK driving licence is also required due to the nature of the role.
