We have an exciting opportunity for a Development Officer to join our growing development team to support the delivery of our new homes programme.  


Affordable housing is a central focus of attention in the UK, and as a social housing landlord with a vision to ‘transform homes, lives and communities’ in our area, this role is a great opportunity to start a career with a personal training plan and with opportunities to progress within our team. 


Within our current development programme, we are delivering new homes for rent and ‘Affordable Home Ownership’, both for general needs housing and for more specialist supported housing schemes. We aim to develop high quality homes with a strong sense of place and community and are working hard to meet the challenges of design excellence, sustainability and energy efficiency, value for money and enhancing nature and biodiversity. 


About the role 


You will: 


  • Assist the Development Team to identify new housing development opportunities. 

  • Work with the Development Team to undertake due diligence and viability appraisal of new sites and opportunities. 

  • Assist the Project Management staff to appoint and work with wider project teams 

  • Assist the development team, and following our development procedures, progress schemes through to the construction contract stage. 

  • Work with the Development Team, contractors and consultants, to ensure projects on-site are delivered on-time and to budget. 

  • Follow our Development Procedures Manual, maintain excellent records and filing systems in line with our audit compliance requirements. 

  • Manage assigned budgets to deliver value for money in all aspects of development for the organisation 


The successful candidate will: 


  • Be educated A-level/NVQ Level 3 or equivalent. 

  • Have the ability to record and maintain information accurately. 

  • Have strong communication skills, both written and verbal. 

  • Have strong organisation skills, with good attention to detail. 

  • Have a flexible approach and willingness to attend site visits. 

  • Hold a full driving licence with access to own vehicle during work hours. 


Ideally you will have an understanding of the affordable housing sector. A qualification in a related housing, planning or construction field would also be an advantage.
