Rents and Service Charge Senior Officer (Social Housing) 

Essex, Southend on Sea (Hybrid Working) 

Salary £42,000 plus benefits 

Permanent, Full Time (Monday - Friday) 

 

We are looking for a Rents and Service Charge Senior Officer to join us to deliver a strategic and customer focused service for the organisation. 

 

This is an exciting opportunity for applicants to take ownership of specific projects which support rent and service charge setting across all tenures and improve the customer experience and value for money.  

 

You will have a wealth of knowledge of rent and service charge setting so you’ll be able to hit the ground running and provide technical advice, professional guidance and training to key stakeholders.    

 

We are looking for an individual with a can-do attitude and strong organisational skills. You will be a problem solver and be able to take the initiative turning ideas into practical solutions to maximise service charge collection.

 Your responsibilities will include:   

  

  • Developing, implementing and monitoring plans for improving rent and service charge setting, reconciliation and utilities management to improve the customer experience  

  • Developing policies, procedures and controls which adhere to legislation, regulation or contractual obligations  

  • Leading on Rent Increases, Service charges & other specific projects  

  • Optimising efficiencies and improve customer access to rent and service charge information through the use of technology 

  • Keeping up to date on applicable best practice/ legislation in addition to the Rent Standard  

  • Ensuring all costs are correctly identified and income maximised  

 

You are required to have the following:   

  

  • Experience of rent and service charge setting and reconciliation across different tenures and be an expert in legislation and legal frameworks surrounding these areas  

  • Strong financial acumen along with analytical skills with the ability to prepare and interpret data and reports  

  • A good understanding and experience of Section 20 consultation from start to finish  

  • Experience of reviewing existing systems and processes to identify issues and develop action plans and solutions to improve the service 

  • Commitment to delivering excellence in customer service at all times.
