The Vacancy

Fixed term for three years with the potential to become permanent. 

Working to a rota, four days/week. Monday to Friday during the hours 9-5pm. 

We are looking for a female Support Officer to join our friendly team! 

We need a compassionate and creative woman with a high level of self-awareness who is comfortable working in groups and independently. If you care about the needs of local women, have experience of working with those with mental health issues and an understanding of how complex trauma can affect behaviours and relationships, we would love to hear from you. 

Your main duties and responsibilities will be: 

  • Working in our support services  

  • Conduct the aspirations and needs assessments and safety planning with individuals and support them in taking and managing risks. 

  • Understand individual women’s previous experience of difficulties in interpersonal relationships including domestic abuse, sexual abuse, loss of children and relationship break down 

  • Work closely with other agencies to meet women’s accommodation and support needs 

  • Key work an allocation of women, meeting with them regularly to develop, action and review their individual support plans. 

 

We are looking for someone who has / can:  

  • Knowledge and understanding of the complex needs of homeless women and the issues facing homeless women in Cambridge. 

  • Some knowledge of agencies working with homeless people and services available 

  • Experience of working with women in crisis 

  • Ability to support women with emotional and personal difficulties and the ability to advise and support people with a range of practical issues including budgeting, cooking, applying for training/employment.

Corona House is a unique women’s service uniting a diverse female population in Cambridge City. We support our women with a range of needs using a creative and flexible approach that explores each individual’s motivations and aspirations. 

Our service has two aspects: 

  • Corona House – where we provide high quality support and accommodation for around two years, to six women who would otherwise be homeless or at risk of homelessness. 

  • Corona Community – a varied programme of supportive group activities available to Corona House residents, ex residents and to other local women.
