Financial Planning Accountant
£55,000 - £65,000 per annum
37 hours per week
Our client is a housing association with homes across South-West Hertfordshire. They have big plans to continue developing new homes to help ease the housing crisis, to deliver a first-class repairs service, and to develop and build safer communities. They are looking for a Financial Planning and Treasury Manager with the ability to think logically and analytically to help them achieve these ambitions.
Perhaps you are looking for a change and want to embark on a new career path, or already have financial planning and / or treasury experience. Either way, you’ll have an inquisitive mind, interested in seeing how those numbers translate into actual homes, and an interest in how they put social housing money to work and manage it all.
What’s the role?
Well recognised and commended internally and externally, their Treasury function is key to the delivery of their strategic objectives in enhancing our working with new and existing partners, being an active developer of homes, and maintaining our strong financial position.
You’ll have great opportunities to develop personally and professionally within our small team through mentoring, shadowing and training and will play a full part in the usual treasury management and financial planning functions including running their £300m+ debt book, creating and reporting on capacity to build more homes, ensuring governance and controls are firmly in place, and offering and presenting quality assessment and analysis on performance to a range of internal and external stakeholders.
What are they looking for?
You will be customer-focused, with the ability to interact empathetically with a wide variety of people. You’ll have an excellent knowledge of accounting and an understanding of how this interacts with treasury. You will have a background in financial planning, and knowledge of the housing or construction sectors would be a distinct advantage.
Those usual personal requirements of being able to think logically and analytically, be highly numerate, an enquiring mind, able to prioritise are a given. What you’ll bring is treasury and / or financial planning experience, self motivation, wanting and able to look beyond the numbers, and a desire to make things happen.
- Experience in a finance or treasury environment
- Qualifications in accountancy or treasury or working toward completion of either of these
- Effective in planning and prioritising workloads.
- Able to analyse high volumes of data and convey this succinctly to both a financial and non financial audience.
- Advanced MS Excel skills.
- You will need to hold a UK driving licence with access to a suitable vehicle, with insurance cover for business use.
- You will need to maintain a satisfactory enhanced level DBS check.
- Knowledge of the housing sector.
- Use of Brixx software for financial planning.
What can they offer you?
They know that people are our most valuable assets, so they offer a range of benefits including 28 days’ annual leave pro rata, an employer pension contribution of up to 11%, development opportunities and access to a comprehensive employee rewards scheme.
How they work
They are committed to embracing the most positive aspects of agile working. They take a blended approach to how we work, so that colleagues have the flexibility to strike the right balance between working in their communities, in their shared spaces and remotely. With digital technology at the heart of their work, teams and individuals are empowered to decide the best way to meet the needs of their role.
The closing date is 22 December 2023 (but please note they reserve the right to close the vacancy early if they receive a large response). Interviews will take place week commencing 1 January 2024.
