Hornsey Housing Trust
Hornsey, London (Greater)
Closing date
25 Feb 2024

Hornsey Housing Trust is a small but ambitious housing association which celebrated its 90th anniversary in 2023. Established in the 1930s by the notable social reformer Margaret Hill, we retain our founding principles to provide good housing for people on low incomes. We focus on housing older people in Hornsey and the wider Haringey area, a rapidly
increasing demographic. We are proud of our legacy, and keen to find new ways to fulfill it as we move towards our centenary.

Our present Chair June Barnes will step down in 2024 after serving a full term on the Board and we are recruiting a new Chair to join the Trust as we embark on delivery of a new 5-year business plan commencing in 2024.

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and energetic person to lead the strategic direction of the organisation and make a positive difference to the lives of our tenants and our local communities. Empathy with our tenants and an interest in our local area are important aspects for the role, along with demonstration of our organisational values – we are caring, collaborative, curious and committed.

We are seeking a strong candidate to be our Chair; someone who can work collaboratively with the Board, staff and tenants of our organisation to help achieve our vision and deliver our priorities. Candidates will have significant experience of non-executive Board level work and an understanding of social housing policy, combined with good business acumen and well-developed ambassadorial skills.

We are happy to consider any reasonable adjustments that candidates may need during any stage of the recruitment process. We also offer reasonable adjustments to ensure the effective ongoing participation of newly recruited Board members.

Haringey is a very diverse borough, our tenants are equally diverse and we encourage applications from members of different ethnic and cultural groups and of all protected characteristics.

Our Board roles are to date unpaid voluntary positions, and this has been our approach for our Chair. We recognise that there is a time commitment for this role and therefore would be open for a discussion with candidates around this aspect as part of the recruitment process.

If you are interested in receiving a recruitment pack or have any questions, please contact Liz Hanley ( Mob: 07752 682487)
The recruitment pack will help you to better understand the role, what support is available and the timetable for recruitment.

The closing date for applications is 25th February 2024
