East Suffolk Council is an exciting place to work, delivering essential local services and making a real difference to a quarter of a million people across East Suffolk.

We currently have an opportunity to join East Suffolk Council's Housing Team as the Strategic Lead for Housing Services.

Your role

We currently have an exciting opportunity to join East Suffolk Council's Housing Team as the Strategic Lead for Housing Services with a current stock of approximately 4,400 properties.

We are looking for a highly motivated and dedicated housing professional to lead the development of the Housing Services Team, including programmes of transformation, keeping up to date with legislative and policy changes and ensuring the service adapts to meet any changes as required and is fully compliant with relevant regulatory or statutory obligations, including the Social Housing Regulation Act.

You will work collectively and collaboratively as part of the Housing Leadership Team, to ensure high quality services are delivered to the residents of East Suffolk.

We need an experienced strategic thinker who can be responsible for leading transformation programmes as well as identifying and managing risks, performance and finances.

What you will need

You will have extensive senior management experience in a Housing service and a high-level understanding of the legislation and best practice governing the provision of housing services. As the post holder, you will have detailed understanding of rent and service charge setting and recovery and an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the welfare benefits system including welfare reform and how this impacts on the affordability of housing.

Here are some of the main benefits:

  • Generous leave entitlement (equivalent to 25 days a year, increasing to 31 days after 5 years’ service, plus bank holidays)
  • Local government pension scheme
  • Flexible working arrangements
  • Learning and development tailored to your role
  • A wide variety of staff support networks including access to health and wellbeing initiatives and programmes.
  • Discounts on mobile phones, computers, holiday and travel, fashion and clothing, health and beauty and many other products and services.

The majority of our teams are working in an agile way, with a mixture of home and office working, depending on individual preferences and service requirements. If you wish to discuss how that might impact your working arrangements if you were the successful candidate, please contact the recruiting manager listed at the bottom of this advert.
