Job Details

Non-Executive Director
£2,500

Highstone Housing Association was registered as a Housing Association in September 2013 as an independent, not for profit organisation, specialising in providing homes for people with disabilities. We manage 30 schemes across Yorkshire providing homes to nearly 300 residents that meet their needs. Our work makes an immense difference to the lives of our customers, offering them the tailored support and advice they need and the peace of mind that if something goes wrong in their home, we’re there to help them fix it.

This is a great opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting people to live independent lives: a chance to invest your skills and experience where it can make a real difference. Our Board Members work closely with our Managing Director to set the long-term strategic priorities for the organisation: making important decisions on where we should commit our resources and setting out our ambitions for the future. They also play an important role in ensuring that effective governance underpins what we do. That means monitoring organisational performance to ensure that we live up to our promises and being ready to challenge where needed. You’ll also look to reassure yourself that we are prudent in managing our finances and risk, and that our customers’ best interests are protected at all times.

It isn’t essential for you to have undertaken a Board Member role before. We’d like to hear from people who can bring practical experience in a range of areas including:
• Housing management in particular care or supported housing
• Finance
• Governance

We want people who understand the needs of our customers, and advocate on their behalf by standing in their shoes at the Board table. Most importantly you’ll be able to demonstrate your passion and commitment for supporting people with disabilities and a readiness to put their needs at the centre of service design, and to measure success by the positive difference we can make to our customers’ quality of life.

You should be able to commit one day per month.

To find our more and how to apply please visit www.emaconsultancy.org.uk or for a confidential discussion please call our retained consultant Ian Robertson on 07947 126329

Closing date: 7 April 2024 (noon).

Company

Ema consultancy is all about people – and the organisations they work in, and the organisations they lead.

We provide a range of services to ensure our clients attract, retain and develop talented people who match their values and culture.

We do this through a range of services, including pay and reward reviews, coaching recruitment for board and executive roles, learning and development support and structure recommendations following merger or other significant change.

You might need us as you are unsure of the best package to attract your next board chair, or perhaps as you are considering merger and need to understand what your ideal new employee structure should look like. You may be seeking support if a colleague has to take unexpected leave or a second expert opinion during difficult times such as disciplinary or employee relation issues. We can also offer quick turnaround upper and lower quartile benchmarking reports for individual posts.

Whatever you approach us for, you can be confident that we’ve been making a positive difference to our clients for more than 13 years. Contact us to see how we can make a difference to your organisation.
