In July 2022 Manchester launched an ambitious new Housing Strategy. Nearly two years on we are now in delivery mode, making significant progress towards meeting the headline target of building 36,000 new homes by 2032 – including 10,000 new affordable homes.

Working within the Strategic Housing service, this senior post will play an essential role in overseeing and reporting on the progress we are making to deliver the strategy, whilst also contributing directly to key elements of our approach, including work to improve conditions in the private rented sector across the city.

We will be looking for experience, knowledge, understanding and potential. With significant and demonstrable experience in all aspects of housing strategy, strategic planning, policy making and corporate governance, you will be confident working with a diverse community of Councillors, community leaders, residents and Registered Providers.

  • Understands the polarised nature of housing in Manchester and is motivated to address inequalities
  • Recognises the links between housing, economic growth and wider regeneration objectives
  • Is an exceptional communicator – both verbally and in writing
  • Understands the scale of the challenge and is passionate about delivering change
