About the role

The successful candidate will be responsible and accountable for delivering high-quality surveying services to a variety of tenures including rented, leasehold, supported and temporary accommodation.  

You will have the opportunity to work in partnership with caseworkers, providing a full surveying service for the major adaptations and essential repairs programmes.

The post holder will have an enhanced focus on engagement with residents and the wider community and deliver a holistic service that embeds community cohesion and delivers value for money.

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive repair queries from customer’s services, tenants and other client groups, decide upon a course of action and, if required, liaise with all parties to ensure surveys are carried out with optimum use of resources and minimum disruption to tenants. Communicate and provide feedback on actions to customer service, tenant or client as appropriate.
  • Provide prompt follow up action to inspections as necessary, including: providing written reports.
  • Respond to all correspondence in line with the pre-action protocol for housing disrepair.
  • Provide housing and property records, files and documentation in line with disclosure requirements.
  • Carry out a pre-inspection when a complaint is submitted, arrange for any necessary repairs and post inspection upon completion.
  • Investigate complaints thoroughly and respond within timescales set out in the SBHA complaints policy and procedure.
  • Support the Leasehold management team in the management of our portfolio of leasehold, shared ownership and mixed tenure schemes.

About you

A recognised technical qualification or professional qualification in building/surveying, minimum BSc, MCIOB or MRICS is essential for this role. You should have experience of preparing and supervising maintenance contracts as well as knowledge of tendering and contractual procedures. To be successful, you will need to have a good knowledge of building construction and maintenance, experience of building defect diagnosis and the ability to work on site unsupervised, using professional skills and judgement to manage works/projects.
