Summary:
We are looking for two Assistant Directors to join the Investigation and Enforcement (I&E) team at the Regulator of Social Housing. The successful candidates will be specialists in managing complex and high-profile cases where there is a likelihood of a failure and potential serious issues with the Regulatory Standards. The role can be based from our Manchester, Leeds, Bristol or Birmingham office.
Job Description:
As an Assistant Director of I&E, you will be responsible for the effective delivery and implementation of appropriate regulatory strategies where significant issues emerge in Registered Providers that may result in a breach of the Regulatory Standards and, where appropriate use the range of powers that are available. You will ensure that steps are taken to put right the failings, protecting tenants and their homes and helping to support the continued supply of funding into the sector.
You will act as the strategic lead on complex and high-profile cases where there is a high likelihood of failure and potential serious issues with the Economic and in some cases, the Consumer Standards. Working closely with the Senior Assistant Director for Investigation and Enforcement you will lead a team to oversee the management of casework where there are serious failures of the Regulatory Standards and the cases that pose the biggest risk to achieving the regulator’s priorities.
You will also act as a subject specialist in one of the following areas: finance/ distressed situations or governance and/or housing services, and will contribute to the development of policy responses for emerging risks and the team's preparedness for major failures.
Responsibilities:
As the successful candidate, you will be accountable for the development, implementation and delivery of effective and proportionate strategies to resolve the most serious and complex cases of underperformance in Registered Providers. Taking on a key leadership role, you will support and develop the wider team, taking responsibility for overseeing the effective delivery and implementation of appropriate regulatory strategies for your case teams portfolio. You will also work with the Senior Assistant Director I&E and with regulation staff, including the in-house legal team to agree the appropriate use of statutory enforcement or intervention powers ensuring they are employed effectively and proportionately so that the RSH's interests are protected in their use.
You will represent the RSH with credibility and confidence acting as a senior operational interface between the RSH and the boards and Executive Teams of providers and wider stakeholders.

Location
We operate a hybrid model of working with a mix of office and home working.
This role can be based out of any of RSH’s core offices in Manchester, Leeds, Birmingham and Bristol. We offer a range of flexible working arrangements and staff can benefit from working from home for part of their hours. Most roles involve some travel within England between our offices, with some roles also involving onsite visits to social housing providers.

The salary for this role is a spot salary within the given range, which will normally be the minimum of the range. There is no incremental progression through a pay scale. Annual salary reviews are determined by the government pay award. In addition, when the probation period is successfully completed, a performance related bonus may be awarded, based on appraisal ratings at the end of the qualifying appraisal year.
