Job Details
Are you an experienced multiskilled tradesperson looking for a new role, working for an organisation that makes a real difference in peoples’ lives? Well, you’re in the right place, we’re on the lookout for a Multiskilled Joiner to join our Repairs team!
How much?
Up to £31,967.46 per year for a 37.5-hour week and opportunities for over-time pay.
What’s in it for me?
You’ll get 25 days paid annual leave (rising annually to 30) plus Bank Holidays and the option to buy or sell some extra leave every year!
A fantastic pension scheme, we’ll match your contribution up to 9%
You’ll get a van and fuel card too (for work use only) so you’ll need a driving licence.
We’ll supply the latest power tools, but as a tradesperson you’ll already have your own hand tools.
You can also claim back for medical appointments, prescriptions and more through our colleague cash plan, and access thousands of retail discounts with Perkbox.
When?
You’ll work a 37.5-hour week, between 8am and 6pm but we can be flexible with this.
We do have to look after our customers 24/7, so you’ll be expected to cover a call out service, but don’t worry, there are lots of willing folk helping out, so the rota is flexible and given in advance notice so you can plan around this.
Where?
Your primary location will be across South Yorkshire, but you may need to travel across the whole of Yorkshire on occasion.
With who?
You’ll work with an experienced, dynamic and friendly team across the region, and receive training from our experts to ensure you meet our quality guidelines. Opportunities to upskill yourself with various qualifications and move up the ladder too.
Who are we looking for?
Ideally, we are looking for people who can hit the ground running, so you’ll have worked in similar repairs and maintenance roles, great if they have been within social housing, but certainly not a deal breaker! We really just want the skills you can bring to our teams.
You’ll enjoy interacting with our customers and providing a great service. You’ll also be able to perform other trades alongside joinery, we call these roles internally Multiskilled Operatives just FYI!
It’s really important to us that our workforce reflect the diverse communities we serve and are committed to building an inclusive workplace, we welcome applications from all parts of the community.
The fine print
Closing date for applications will be the 26/01/2025, but we’ll be reviewing and contacting applicants over the coming weeks so don’t wait around and keep your phone handy!
You must hold a full UK driving license for this role, and a basic DBS check will be required if successful.
Company
We are Yorkshire Housing by name and Yorkshire is our focus. We own and manage nearly 20,000 homes – and are developing thousands more.
Our vision is making it possible to have a place you're proud to call home.
You might think of Yorkshire Housing as ‘just’ a housing provider, but we’re so much more than that. We’re here to make a positive difference in people’s lives. So, as well as owning and managing nearly 20,000 homes (and counting) across Yorkshire, we also:
- Offer money and tenancy coaching
- Help older customers live at home independently
- Adapt homes to match the needs of our customers
- Carry out repairs and replace items before things go wrong
- Provide antisocial behaviour support
- Get involved with work in the community
OUR PRIORITIES
Our five priorities that will help us achieve our vision are:
Great Customer Experience
We’ll listen to customers and use what we know about them to shape our services. Oh, and we’ll provide extra support where it’s needed.
Homes and Places to be Proud of
We’ll create homes that people want to live in.
- Quality
- Safety
- Affordability
We’ll also be kind to the planet and aim to be one of the first UK housing associations to stop using gas heating and hot water systems.
Growth
We’ll deliver 8,000 new homes by 2030. They will be energy efficient, sustainable and affordable to live in. We’ll also refresh our Help to Buy and social and affordable rented options.
We’ll achieve these priorities by focusing on being:
Employer of Choice
We’ll lead the way and make a name for ourselves as an employer. We’ll give you the right support and tools to succeed, plus a package full of benefits.
Strong, Resilient and Innovative Business
We’ll invest in all the right things, from our ICT to our people. This will make us stronger, helping us to make a difference to our customers and be a business that people want to work for and with.
