What to expect as a Board member
As a Board member at whg, you will attend meetings at our Head Office in Walsall (sometimes virtually via Teams) to share your expertise. You will have the opportunity to join neighbourhood walks, meet customers, and attend our events.
The estimated time commitment for a Board member is about two days per month – but it will feel busier at the beginning with induction and meeting our other Board and Committee members.

How do I become a Board member?
There’s no right way to be a Board member, but having expertise is key to becoming a Board member and is desirable to organisations (just like us). Having experience and skills in areas like Customer Service, Finance, IT and Housing management is something we’re looking for to strengthen our board.
What are my responsibilities as a Board member?
Your responsibilities as a Board member are to ensure that we operate effectively in line with Our 2030 Plan by using your experience and skills. We look for people from all backgrounds and encourage anyone with the expertise we are looking for to apply.
How much do you earn as a Board member?
Board members at whg earn on average £8,160 per annum. Travel and out-of-pocket expenses will also be paid in line with our member expenses policy.
