We do things well and keep developing.

We are currently seeking a highly motivated person to lead the Council’s Housing Enabling and Development Team in Teignbridge.

The role involves maximising the delivery of affordable housing across the towns and villages of Teignbridge, including across the Dartmoor National Park.

This is achieved by working collaboratively with developers, planners, architects, landowners, community land trusts and members of the Teignbridge Affordable Housing Partnership of Registered Providers.

The role will also lead the growth and delivery of the Council’s own development programme, “Homes for Teignbridge” and ensuring that our high-quality homes meet the Regulator of Social Housing’s standards.

We’re better together.

You will enjoy working together as part of a team to deliver on our vision of making Teignbridge a healthy and desirable place where people want to live, work and visit.

We are an equal opportunities employer committed to a diverse and inclusive organisation. We welcome applications from all qualified candidates regardless of their age, caring responsibilities, disability, gender/sex, gender reassignment/trans status, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sexual orientation and socio-economic status. We also welcome applications from military veterans and their families.

We can offer:

  • Generous Local Government Pension Scheme.
  • Hybrid and flexible working – Part office based, and part home-based.
  • Free car parking (we also have close access to a mainline train station).
  • A refurbished modern zero carbon emissions office space.
  • Generous annual leave and wellbeing package.
  • Heavily discounted membership at Teignbridge District Council Leisure Centres.
  • Cycle to Work Scheme.
  • Opportunities for career and self-development.
  • 24/7 employee discount access and employee assistance support.

You are a good Teignbridge District Council fit if you:

  • Have significant experience in Housing Enabling.
  • Have senior membership of a relevant professional organisation and a qualification in Housing, Development or Planning.
  • Have attention to detail and a positive approach to your work and be able to work with others to achieve positive outcomes as a team.
  • Have good customer service skills and the ability to communicate clearly and accurately with colleagues, members of the public and partner agencies.
  • Good knowledge of the Microsoft 365 suite of products and good IT skills.

We are committed to doing things well in Teignbridge and want to find the right person to deliver in an innovative and collaborative manner.

It is vital to read the job description and person specification for this role. In your supporting statement please tell us why you are interested in this position and how your knowledge, experience and skills equip you for it.
